Stressed to the max!

Yup!  That's me!   It just feels like we are being handed challenges left and right.  We found out this week that my youngest is also allergic to gluten.  :(    I feel so overwhelmed. Everytime I try to search for gluten free, soy free, egg free, peanut free on google I'm bombarded with so much information.

I don't want to compare it to having a child diagnosed with diabetes .. but it feels pretty much the same as what I went through when Callan was diagnosed .. only a little more confusing! My whole.entire.body hurts 24/7.  I don't even know what I do all day but clearly it is not cooking, cleaning or laundry. I was just feeling good about everything with Callan, and then BAM!  I just want to not have to think about food ever again!  But that isn't possible.

Everyone I talk to doesn't really think that this is a big deal, and that totally irks me.  My baby will be 1 on February 8th, and I'm so confused about his birthday cake.  It seems like it's going to cost a fortune just to bake a cake without eggs or gluten! UGH!  Oh, and did y'all know that EVERY.SINGLE.FORMULA has some sort of soy in it?  I just want to scream!!!

Thanks for letting me vent.  I know that this will pass .... I just need to get my butt in gear and start climbing the mountain!  <3

  1. Oh my gosh. That's hard. That's a lot of allergies. It is a big deal. My husband's grandma is Gluten and Dairy free, so it's alot. has a lot of Gluten Free recipies, I'm not sure how many of them would also eliminate his other allergies though. Good luck and Take Care of Yourself, mama needs to be healthy enough to take care of her babies.

    1. Hi! I found your blog through Amanda.. I am the mom of a type 1 and I myself have wheat, gluten, dairy, and corn allergies. And its awful!

But I promise it can be done. Google gluten and egg free cakes, there are tons! Ill try and find you some recipes if you'd like just shoot me an email.

Formula is rough. My mom used a barley formula that she made at home, using barley, water, and karo syrup for taste. My brothers loved it and thrived on it.

Please feel free to contact me. ((Hugs)).

  2. No advice, just some hugs!

  3. Thank you everyone. It means a lot! :)

  4. Hi! I found your blog on pinterest. My 4 1/2 year old daughter was diagnosed last week with type 1 diabetes. I started a blog also, but don't know anything about writing or setting up a blog. Its a great idea to write all this down. I hope you and your little boy had a good day. :)

  5. I know it's no fun. Sorry. My 6 mo. old has allergies (we're settling on "just" milk protein now)- but for about 1 month I ate soy/egg/dairy/chocolate/nut etc. free (am still dairy free now) for nursing. I did get used to it. I started roasting loads of veggies and lots of rice and rice milk. Chex cereal of course also. And I can buy some special brownie mix and I substitute pumpkin for egg... I mean.. it's kind of "raw" looking but when you can't have anything else you'll eat it! Good luck.

  6. Praying for you and your sweet babies and that you can find your way through all of this. :-) -Mom of a T1D son, age 14 (diagnosed at 10 years old)
