Poison and cookies.

I was sent this video from a friend. My favorite line "There are only 2 things my daughter can not eat. Poison and cookies .... made with poison."  Ha!

Things are looking up. For the first time in months my little baby, Cason, has clear skin WITHOUT steroids!!  I've eliminated all gluten, egg, and soy from his diet.  I'm also getting rid of the peanut butter after the incident we had last week!  I had made the boys lunch (pb & j) and licked the knife. It was surely 30 minutes later, and I had even had something to drink.  I gave Cason a kiss, and his poor little cheek turned bright red for the next day.

This is what prompted us to get rid of our dog.
Cason actually did that to himself while he was sleeping. :(

September, 2011
He is on oral steroids, as well as steroid cream here.
It works great, but I don't like giving it to him.

He's totally rocking the same outfit back in September!
He's still so tiny!

The last picture was taken this week.  When I got him up in the morning his skin was as clear as it has ever been (while not using steroids)!  I have been giving him organic whole milk, fruits, veggies, and gluten free-soy free cereal.  I'm hoping that his skin will continue to get clearer.  He's still a little itchy, but not anything like he has been!

Have any of y'all had to deal with eczema and allergies??  Did eliminating everything from their diet help clear the eczema?

Stressed to the max!

Yup!  That's me!   It just feels like we are being handed challenges left and right.  We found out this week that my youngest is also allergic to gluten.  :(    I feel so overwhelmed. Everytime I try to search for gluten free, soy free, egg free, peanut free on google I'm bombarded with so much information.

I don't want to compare it to having a child diagnosed with diabetes .. but it feels pretty much the same as what I went through when Callan was diagnosed .. only a little more confusing! My whole.entire.body hurts 24/7.  I don't even know what I do all day but clearly it is not cooking, cleaning or laundry. I was just feeling good about everything with Callan, and then BAM!  I just want to not have to think about food ever again!  But that isn't possible.

Everyone I talk to doesn't really think that this is a big deal, and that totally irks me.  My baby will be 1 on February 8th, and I'm so confused about his birthday cake.  It seems like it's going to cost a fortune just to bake a cake without eggs or gluten! UGH!  Oh, and did y'all know that EVERY.SINGLE.FORMULA has some sort of soy in it?  I just want to scream!!!

Thanks for letting me vent.  I know that this will pass .... I just need to get my butt in gear and start climbing the mountain!  <3

And there is more ...

The past few weeks have been crazy.  My 11 month old, Cason, had an allergic reaction to something. His lip swelled up and he started wheezing.  So off to the ER we went!  His doctor FINALLY did allergy testing.  He is allergic to soy, egg whites, peanuts, and dog and cat dander.  He has an epi pen, and is doing breathing treatments now.  Like we didn't have enough going on already!!

Callan has switched from the pen to syringes.  He is still handling it like it's no big deal.  I can't believe what a strong "little" guy he is.  (He'll be 3 in March, weighs 46lbs, and wears a 5T!) His strength is definitely what gets me through the day.  I'm so proud of him!

I hope everyone is doing well, and I hope to be blogging on a more regular schedule!

8 is GREAT!

Callan had his first endo appointment yesterday!  We left early for the 3.5hr drive up there, and arrived with only 20 minutes to spare. I didn't know what to expect, so I was super nervous!  I have not been in contact with our old endo since November, and I've pretty much just been winging it.  I thought that I was for sure in for a lashing.

I love love love our endo.  She told me that I was doing a great job, and that Callans A1C is 8!  Woot woot!  It's amazing how one little number can melt all the stress away .. at least for a few minutes!

On a side note, Callan cried when they checked his blood pressure but didn't cry when they drew blood.  So silly!

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
